My Identity Our Identity the Kenya Classroom
43 students from my three classes Y9 A M and K took part in this project. I was teaching website designs and I wanted to get some content for my students to work on. When I checked through the projects handbook I settled for this project because my strand was cultures and I found the project matching the demands of my unit. I did not know what I was facing but for sure the experience was good. Said become my co-teacher in my class.
The experience was very enriching since we all discovered our cultures in the class. Some of the students in my class did not know their cultures properly. The project exposed them to know them. Furthermore parents and grandparents were involved as the student had to find out more about themselves. During the parents teacher meetings the parents talked about it.
One of the requirements I gave my students was to learn one culture from the forum. This was very interesting as the students choose different cultures to learn from. At the end the students were able to learn from each others as well as from the forum. The website they made was the talk of the school and the parents were very excited.
To capture it all my students learnt from two teachers myself and Said and they were exposed to opportunity to learn from the class because of the online sharing and to learn from others online as global citizen. I as a teacher learnt a lot on how to intergrate IEARN project to my lesson. It was explorative and engaging something I never thought would happen. I am glad and grateful for the facilitators, thank you for being in my class.

It also could have any tangible items such as traditional items and so. After receiving and opening the package, participants continue communicating and answering each others questions. They can write their reflection on the topic and express and further thoughts. The idea is to have something tangible and relating technology to real live. It is to have something real between your hands and you know and you then reflect upon these feelings and express them in a dairy or journal form that you can share with everyone.
Age of the participants: 12-17
Time table for the current school year:

2- They can also respond to some letters send from the package they received.
3- They answer the questions of others about their package.
4- They post their reflection, questions and surprises in a forum
5- They exchange experience and thoughts of their work
Expected outcomes/ products
There are different outcomes of this project most of all

2- Students will also write letters and design post cards
3- Students will make PowerPoint presentations about their school, villages, family and send it in the box
4- Students will also will have an exhibition to show the rest of the schools about their work
Projects contribution to others and the planet
I always like others to know about my country so, sending a box which contains these things was the idea of American teacher from MA and I worked with her and we did receive their box and they did receive our box. It opens our eyes about how little others know about area and we also got to see some adorable stuff that our dear friends from America sent to us. So, why not exchange items and be able to touch them and examine them in close and then go and talk about it. It enriches us in many ways and make the world seems like really a small village where everyone know each other.

ACTIVITY 8: Looking at HTML
In this activity you will discover how you can view the source code (i.e. the set of instructions used to produce the website)
1. Log onto the internet and type in the following website: www.nelsonthornes.com
This is the website of the publisher for this book.
2. Rather than look at the content of the site. We are going to look at this HTML cod used to produce the website.
To do this, position the cursor anywhere on the webpage.
Right Click the mouse button.
Select View Source by clicking on it, using the left mouse button.
A window appears with code on it.
As you will see, it is very difficult to make sense of the HTML code, but there are some easy ways to create WebPages and websites.
How to create a website using HTML
There are 2 steps of creating a website using HTML
1. Use a program called an Editor or a word-processing package to produce your text with HTML.
2. Put the pages on a web-server, which is a computer with a permanent connection on the internet.
Simple HTML code
Here is simple section of HTML
This a simple document
This is a sample paragraph
The tags are the words that are enclosed between < and > signs. They are HTML instructions and they tell the computer how to display or format the text.
Look at the sample code. We are now going to look at what each tag does.
and tells the computer that we are creating an HTML document
The tag tells the computer that the computer is starting and tells the computer that the document has ended.
The tags
and
says that you want to text to be a heading of type h1. There are other headings, h2, h3, etc. to choose from. Headings coded h1 are larger in size compared with h2 headings and so on.The tags
and
mean start and end a new paragraph. A break of approximately two lines deep is inserted between paragraphs.Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Activity 5:Investigating the features of websites
In this Activity, you will look at the home page (i.e. the first page you come to) of an unofficial website about the footballer David Beckham.
The website address for this is: www.paulsworld.co.uk or www.paulsworld.org.uk
Look carefully at the home page of this site. Write down the names of as many elements on the home page as you can spot. For each of these elements, breifly describe why they have been included.
