Design Summative

At this stage
Students are expected to generate several feasible designs that meet the design specification and to evaluate
these against the design specification.


Students are then expected to select one design, justify their choice and evaluate this in detail against the design specification.

The following are guiding questions to assit you to realize high performance

Design
A -Generate A RANGE of feasible designs that meet the design specification (developed at investigate stage)
B- EVALUATE EACH design against the design specification (developed at investigate stage).
C-Select ONE design,
D-justifying your choice and
E-EVALUATE this in detail (FULLY AND CRITICALLY) against the design specification (developed at investigate stage).

Investigate Summative

Investigation is an essential stage in the design cycle. Students are expected to identify the problem, develop a design brief and formulate a design specification. Students are expected to acknowledge the sources of information and document these appropriately.

Guiding Questions
a)      Explain the problem
b)      Discuss its relevance
c)      Design brief: show how you intend to solve the problem you have presented. This will guide you investigation as you work to develop a more detailed design specification
d)     Critically investigate the problem
a.       Through appropriate (2) internet sources/(2)books/(2) newspapers or magazines
b.      Through discussion with consumers
c.       Through your personal experience
e)      Evaluate the information you have critically collected and investigated. Make sure you cite (in text) the sources and also provide a detailed reference list (APA).
f)       Design specification: make detailed description of the conditions, requirements and restrictions with which a design must comply. This is a precise and accurate list of facts such as conditions, dimensions, materials, process and methods that are important for the designer and for the user. All appropriate solutions will need to comply with the design specification

Describe detailed methods for appropriate testing to evaluate your product against a design specification

Collaborative Journaling

Today we shall be doing collaborative journaling.

Group leaders should create a document in Google Docs
Click Create
Select Document


Click Share

Enter the Name of the Digital Learning Unit -e.g. The Wonderful Planets
Click Done

Enter the gmail addreses of your team, separated by a comma

Click done.

All member will recieve invitation to the document.
They should open the document on edit mode and begin working.
You can chat on the side to ask for clarification or discuss an issue in the document.

The document will then be shared with the group members.

All member will open the document and start working on the documents.

Facts
What the facts will contain in the DLU

Digital Learning Unit

Group Work,

In your groups -Work on the task allocated for the group work.

Remember your group roles and responsibility.
Roles (Leader, Manager, Reporter, Material, Social)
Responsibility (Resources, Facts, Quizes, Pictures, Games)

Update your e-portfolio on what you have done.

DO the work duirng the lesson and the allocated homework time ONLY.

Remmember -your tool should only be used for one lesson 50 minutes. Make it compact with all the aspects we checked.

Digital Learning Tool -Group Work

All teams are set and you have identified the roles of the team members.

You have identified the digital learning tool as a group.
Each member of the group has been given a task and they have looged in epearl to recored their work in the e-portfolio.

Monday - All team members to work on their contribution to the Digital Learning Tool.
Update your work in the e-portfolio during the lesson time.

Wednesday-The lesson will be Himanities as this week we used the humanities.

Thursady - The lesson will be English as this week we used the english lesson.

Use homework time to do the work out of class.
