Access Exercises

Microsoft Access Exercises
These exercises start from basics and are suitable for people with no previous database experience, though they are recommended for people who are competent with other Windows applications such as Word and Excel. Experienced users may be able to skim over the first few exercises but it is recommended that they be completed in order. I've found from teaching experience that people who skips steps invariably have to come back later to pick up what they missed. All of the following documents are in PDF format. The numbers in brackets indicate file size. Larger files may take a long time to open in slower internet connections.
Getting Started (903kb)
Queries (319kb)
Advanced Queries (282kb)
Forms Reports (744kb)
Relational Databases (738kb)
Relational Queries, Forms & Reports (1.4Mb)
Interfaces & Finishing Touches (1.3Mb)
Database Use - An overview of Databases for people who only need to know the basics (316kb)
AccessExerciseFiles.exe - Exercise files (2.2Mb) - This is a compressed archive which contains all of the files needed for the exercises. Download the archive, double-click on the downloaded file and then specify where you want the exercise files to be placed on your computer.
These exercises were created for users of Microsoft Access version 2002 (XP). They should be suitable for users of other versions though some minor differences may exist. Note that databases created in some versions of Access may not work in other versions of Access.

It is recommended that the files below are saved to your own computer. Right-click the file you need and then choose the Save Target As option. You can then select a location to save the file to.
