The problem I am trying to solve or help to improve is about how technology is affecting our cultural identity and national identity, whether positively or negatively. The book that I got support from was found on the internet as there was no such book to be found in the library. The book is named, 'Culture and Technology.' The author, Fatemeh Farahani, calls technology the reason for todays general backwardness. She asks questions like: is it true that in the future technology will be weaved into our cultural fabric? But she also says that technology is neither evil nor disastrous, but if used as a good means, could bring up the welfare of humans the world's cultural aspects. This is exactly the point that I will try to bring out in my website. The website which supported my problem is: http://www.scu.edu/sts/nexus/summer2001/MolonyArticle.cfm
The author, Barbara Molony asks if technology is eroding our sense of identity. She says that internet is a network that connects us as individuals but that we should also have some "off-line" time to find our identity. Along with this, she also writes some negative points about spending too much time on the internet or on Ipads and Kindles and losing our cultural identity. These two sources have helped me to understand that there are certain places in the world where culture and particular ethnic tribes have "vanished" and that there is a real problem similar to mine that is "infecting" the world. ~Saumya Gupta

The problem that i want to solve is that how globalization is affecting our cultures. This has been a very serious issue that has been going on as time passes. If this continues, people will forget their culture and their values that will lead them to a good life and finally the culture will come to a full stop. Is this what your ancestors wanted? the website i got to support my information was : http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/curiosity/topics/big-question-globalization-changing-culture.htm and http://saharareporters.com/article/culture-conflicts-and-advancement-dr-peregrino-brimah. Both of the authors more or less talk about the same things such as how globalization has forced or influenced people to forget or hardly follow their culture. Dr. Peregrinno Brimah also sated a few examples to why this is a issue to take action of. I was not able to find a book that related to my problem but i will try look for some online or somewhere else as there were none in the library.

The problem that i have identified is how Westernisation has influenced Islamic culture and way of life. The reasons why i feel this is a problem are the existence of conflicts between Islamic nations and the Western world. A muslim's way of life is supposed to be guided by the Holy book called Quran and by Islamic Shariah or law. However, Western influences are in some cases the opposite of what islamic cultural beliefs are, and thus create misunderstandings and conlicts. The website that i have found appropriate to show evidence of Western influence on Islamic culture is http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/muslims/themes/west.html. This website is on the topic called "Islam and the West" and consists of several scholars giving their views on this subject. The book that i have used is called "Towards Understanding Islam" written by Abul A'La Mawdudi, who explains islamic culture in detail. By understanding both the islamic culture and the influence and effects of westernisation, it may be possible to better understand the underlying causes of conflicts between muslims and the West, which may then assist to find solutions to stop or avoid such conflicts.

The problem i am focusing on is girl rights's abuse. Basically how they are treated in different communities, how they're evolving and what vision people have for them plus their rights and the benefits of putting them into use. The book i got that supports the issue i am trying to solve is called Penguin Atlas of Women in the World by Joni Seager. It is a book on a global perspective on how women and girls are living today across different cultures and continents. it talks about the issues they face from, sexism to domestic abuse etc.
http://www.peaceopstraining.org/courses/preventing-violence-against-women/
this talks about how discrimination against females should stop and looks at it in different points of view
http://www.unmultimedia.org/radio/english/2013/03/violence-against-women-and-girls-the-most-widespread-human-right-violations-caricom/
this website is based from a UN conference in the committee human rights, the most wide-spread human rights violation and the reasons as to why we need to eradicate this.

The problem I have discovered is discrimination in schools specially focusing in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania. The teachers hit some children or some don’t get the deserved marks in the assessments, some children are even behaved rudely with. students are even discriminated because of their languages, color, traditions, etc. I studied in one of the schools where this all took place. Though I have left that school, I don’t want the remaining students to suffer from all that discrimination and so I interviewed my mom and asked her to write a couple of words about the environment there.

Evidence from the book:
Wignall, P. (2000). Prejudice & difference. Oxford: Heinemann Library.
This book is talking about prejudice and differences. On page 4, it tells us how students were discriminated by the hands they were using to write or if they were caught learning and speaking their mother tongue. On page 24 and 25 of it, it talks about stereotyping, labeling and what are some of the typical racist attitudes. It tells how a whole community is judged because of one person. This book is likely to be a great help to me because its even providing me with ways of dealing with discrimination which will be shared on my website. Some examples are: educating ourselves, challenging others and being proud.

Evidence from the website:
Valdez, M. (n.d.). Cultural discrimination.Upload & Share PowerPoint presentations, documents, infographics. Retrieved September 4, 2013, from http://www.slideshare.net/MafeValdez/cultural-discrimination
This website is explaining what exactly is cultural discrimination and how and why people are discriminated according to their physical characteristics, color, dressing, language, customs and traditions, etc.

The problem I am trying to solve is about the confusion due to the cultural clashes experienced by the ABCD's, which means American Born Confused Desis. Desi is an Indian term for an Indian. My website will be mainly about cultural confusion created by migration of families from one country to another. It is predominantly experienced by the second generation of migrated Indian families. The migrated Indian families face a sense of alienation and isolation due to the gross differences between the cultures of India and the Western countries. The tradition and the culture taught and practiced at home and that seen in the western world are poles apart. I did not manage to find a book about this topic but hope to find one soon. the website which supports my topic and problem is

i am working on how westernization has affected cultural identity.i will focus on both positive and negative ways.the book that supports this is Dislocating Cultures: Identities, Traditions, and Third World Feminism by Uma narayn.i got the book online as there was no book that supports my problem in the library.in this book Narayan examines ways in which the flow of information across national contexts affects our understanding of issues. Dislocating Cultures contributes a philosophical perspective on areas of ongoing interest such as nationalism, post-colonial studies, and the cultural politics of debates over tradition and "westernization" in Third World contexts.the website i got is

I would like to solve and stop discrimination in our culture against the disabled or able ism. The discrimination action against people based on the physical ability of they body should not be allowed in our society or any culture.

An ableist society is said to be one that treats non-disabled individuals as the standard of "normal living", which results in public and private places and services, education, and social work that are built to serve 'standard' people, thereby inherently excluding those with various disabilities.

In many countries it is now against law to discriminate against disable people in various areas of they lives.

I will find the laws of different countries and culture which will give equal rights to disabled people live "normal living". I will find and get more information to support my topic.
iii. prejudices and discrimination against disabled persons

My problem is how tribal stereotypes effect people. this basically means that some people are immediately judged depending on the type of tribe you come from. So my goal is to teach others about these tribes and how not people are the same and you should at least get to know them and judge them based on their personality and not the way others think you should act.

My problem ıs, mısunderstandıng dıfferent cultural belıefs and values. I want everyone to know that, they are not allowed to judge other people's cultural belıef and values, because everyone has theır own lıfe, hıstory and background and before judgıng someone else they have to look at theır own culture. Because of mısunderstandıng other people's cultural belıefs and values, people start dıscrımınatıng each other, whıch can cause many problems. I dıdn't exactly found any websıte or book related to my topıc but I wıll ıntervıew people, so that I get more ınformatıon about ıt.

the problem that i have resolved to solve is mainly about how westernization and migrating to other regions with cultures that are different from your can lead to you into either forgetting of despising your culture and adopting another.

my client is called Mary and she is an American citizen by birth. Mary has never been outside America and does not know absolutely anything to do with her culture. she is currently facing a situation whereby she is being bullied and discriminated for not knowing her roots and most of her classmates refer to her as the culture less or lost girl.

Mary's parents are always away on business trips and rarely get the time to enlighten her more about her culture.

i feel that an IT (website) solution will best solve Mary's problem because it is easily accessible and would enable her to find all the information and pictures she needs to learn more about her culture without bothering her parents too much.

the book i have found is Africa Adorned by Angela Fisher which tell us more about traditional African culture.
